Walking

By Diana Moran http://primetimelife.tv - For years I was a member of a local ramblers club and had great fun walking and discovering beautiful parts of the country I just couldn’t have imagined when I previously drove through the same areas. I love the countryside and still go rambling when and while I can. 21-12-2009
There are many benefits to health from simply walking. If you walk briskly and swing your arms, walking makes you puff a bit and increases your heart rate, lessening the risk of heart disease. And it encourages more oxygen into your lungs thereby improving your cardiovascular system. This “aerobic” exercise builds your staminae and gives you energy and the more you do the more you will want to do! Every large muscle group is used and strengthened when you walk, and because walking is a weight bearing exercise, it stimulates new bone and maintains existing bone. Walking expends energy (calories). In other words it burns up fat and helps control your weight. It builds up leg muscles, which are vital for your physical independence, and gives tone and definition to your body. So get your hiking boots on. “Those feet were made for walking!” For further information www.ramblers.org.uk www.primetimelife.tv does not accept responsibility for the adequacy or accuracy of this information.
