Moving on up

I teach you in the book how to use the GDA plans and how to pick the right plan for you. We’ve also looked at simple ways to include more of the nutritional goodies in your diet and keep tabs on the nutrients you need to eat less of.
So what else do you need to make your GDA Diet and lifestyle complete?  You’ve got it… some activity. Don’t panic! This is going to be easy, and although it may take a little effort to start with I guarantee that after a couple of weeks, being more active will soon become just another enjoyable part of your day-to-day life.
Being active is a really important part of your success and will help you stay in control of your weight and your health for a lifetime. How balanced is your lifestyle?
More energy in than going out = Weight gain
Equal amounts of energy in and energy out = weight maintenance
More energy out than going in = weight loss
Of course, there are several ways to shift the balance in favour of weight loss:
•  You can put all your energy into exercising, so you can get away with eating anything you like without gaining weight. (I could never love exercise this much, so I’d say no thanks!)
• You can restrict your eating to such an extent that you make all the calorie savings you need to lose weight without lifting a finger. (I love eating too much to do that.)
• Or you can take an altogether more reasonable approach and choose to save a few calories here and burn a few off there. (Now that sounds more like it!)
